For a long time, I was looking for a good front weight bracket for my little B. I had some good suggestion and ideas given to me from some of you wonderful fellas. Welp, I finally had enough of steering with the brakes. I went to the local steel yard, and set to work. This is what we came up with. Still need to paint it, but it seems to be working quite well. I can steer the tractor in the snow with a heavy attachment on the three point, now. I am keeping a close eye on the tangs cast into the engine block for cracking. That is my only concern, so far. What do you think?

My concern would would those four bolts that hold the hole front axle. When restoring mine a said it sure is not stronger enough for loader or a lot of weight on front.Memory tells me they are one half inch bolts .

Ok, good to know. At the least I can replace them with new grade 8 bolts. I will keep an eye on those, too.

Good eye. I am building a pro street '86 S10. End goal is 600hp+, which (if you can believe what you read) shouldn't be very hard to do with a 11:1 496.

my concern is block 1/2 the rad area....B guys will KNOW, but it seems 'wrong' to me... also.. is there support OTHER than them 4 bolts waay in the back ? I'd think 2nd bounce and whamm, weights all on the ground, busted bolts..worse would be the castings... |

I gotta' solution to blocking the grille AND adding some weight. Slide that 496 right under the hood of that Lil' B and ya kill two birds with one stone! As a matter of fact, that would even add something else' to that cute little B. The "WOW" factor! See, it takes a hotrodder to think up this cool ![]() ![]() Steve@B&B |

Looks like 2 bolts at the rear of engine & torque tube and 1 at radiator support bracket on each side. How much is this total weight with engine that bears down on the one wishbone pivot bracket and bolt for the front end?
It does look easily weight adjustable.

Those are 60lbs each. 360lbs total. Keeps the front end down nice when using a box scraper. |

You know, I’ve never had to even open the radiator shutters even on the hottest days. I’ve never seen her get above 170 degrees. I tied the weight bracket in to the two tangs cast into either side the of the block, as well. It is supported in four places total. The sides are 3/8” and the front is 1/2”. |

At first glance, I thought that the only bolts holding the bracket were the 4 back by the
bellhousing. That would definitely not hold. Upon closer scrutiny, I see you are also utilizing the 2 bolts at the front of the engine as well. Those two bolts will see the most strain but I don't see any reason why they will not hold.

I’m not sure on the total weight on the front end. I will say I add/remove weights based on the implement I am using, and it never has more than 360lbs (6 weights) total. With 360lbs on the bracket and nothing on the 3pt, I’d have to have forearms the size of an oak to steer it! |

Glad to hear it. Those tangs on the front of the block are THICK, so I was hoping it wouldn’t be an issue. I am keeping an eye on them, all the same. |

If you are happy with them that's fine.As a practical matter the higher the weight is positioned on the tractor the less effective it is holding the front end down as it comes up in the air.Would have been much better all around to add front wheel weights and the B slab weights that bolt to the front axle as far as counter balance to the rear.Plus when you hang something with the box blade and the front end goes up 2ft in the air and slams back down having the weight on the front wheels and axle would make it far less likely to break something on the tractor.
