If the drive shaft under your feet is turning, but machine is not moving, either the transmission clutches are slipping or (less likely) the steering clutches.  Does it make any difference if the machine is warm or cold?  Watch the transmission pressure gauge on the dash while problem occurs- does it stay up?  For sure check your fluid levels, and you can also disengage one steering clutch at a time to eliminate problems in steering clutches and final drives.

Power shift on my 7G works similar, the clutches engage from a torque driven external pump, that goes south and the drive shaft spins nothing drives. Need to get pressures checked and see what occurs when shift in and out of gear.

My 16 D.C. does not have a problem however I do not have a transmission pressure gauge on my tractor. If I wanted to add one, where would I plumb it to?
