Thanks for posting! I always liked mounted pickers other than the dirt. First picker I ever ran was a New Idea 319 mounted on a series II D15. Neighbor had a 190 picker like yours on a D17. I still have my John Deere 237 mounted picker in the shed all oiled up and put away. Tom

Great shots! Of the 17 and mounted picker. Brings back some memories of Dad driving the 45 hooked to a new idea picker and me with the other 45 out in front just to keep it moving through the muddy spots. We were doing custom work on some of the wettest clay ground in PA.

This is the second year of my using the picker, last year is husked reasonably well, but nothing to brag about. This year was worse, the corn was planted late and there still seemed to be a lot of moisture in the stalk. The picker is not as difficult to remove as it may appear if you leave the lift cylinder mount attached to the tractor. 6 bolts and undo 2 chains for the elevator. Remove 2 bolts up front for the lift mechanism, install jack stands, remove 2 more bolts at rear, detach 2 more chains then back out. The rear sub frame can now be removed by putting down the jack stands, removing 2 wedge locks and driving away. Of course putting the picker back on takes a little more patience to get everything lined up. Parking on a flat concrete slab will make the job much easier. All that being said, I never took it off last year and don't plan on it this year either.
