Need some advise for setting the old girl up to cut soybeans with a LOT of pigweed in it. And the stems are still green. And I cant wait till frost because they are early beans that are already starting to pop out of the pod. Don't you just love farming. But they are making 75bpa!!!!

What does the sample look like? Are the beans clean or do they have a lot of foreign material in with the beans? If foreign materiel is a problem you'll have to adjust the sieves and speed up the fan. If threshing is the problem try speeding up the cylinder. Is the cylinder clearance OK?

I'm running an air foil on top which does a good job but I would set the upper sieve at about a 1/2" just enough to slide your dinger tips in and the lower seive at about 3/8-5/16. You should be running a what looks like half full on tailings.

If you have trash in ben, open fan choke wide open, top sieve 5/8.
Make sure cylinder bars are good. It should eat a lot of weeds if bars are good. MACK |

There is a lot of mog in the grain tank, I run the cylinder clearance at 1/4" and had to raise it to .5" because of all the weeds running through. How good are the air foil chaffers? I can't seem to find any info on them. Does it bend the tips back in corn like the normal chaffer?

IMO in weeds, I would skip the air foil.
There are no fins to fold back in corn, so if you want to get one for corn thats fine, but if you are dealing with cockleburr or anything with a head or seed pod on it, it will wedge in the big gaping hole and you will need to clean it out. We do not harvest soybeans, but I know in corn one can clean the sample even better with a square tooth chaffer, so if you can run a corn chaffer in beans (long tooth) then you might try to find a square tooth, but I'd check with Dr. Allis or someone who is in soybean country before plunking down on a square tooth |
