Allis 5030 and 5040 Info

   Good Sunday Morning,
I am again seeking advice from the fine folks on this awesome forum. I am going to look at what I think is a 5040 Allis tractor, however the folks trying to sell say its a 5030. { Estate Sale}  The question Im asking is what common problems these tractors had and what to look for, and how hard to get parts for.
I thank you fine folks in advance for all your help, past and future.

	depends what it is 5030 is a Japanese tractor and aftermarket parts like alternator, muffler, belts. etc. are available but internal components not so much. they are a very handy tractor. I'm not familiar with the 5040, possibly Romanian or Italian built and similar parts availability from what I've read. HTH. Eric

	5040 was made by Universal Tractor in Romania. The engine is a Fiat and the tractors are pretty good. The same company made Long tractors. I just sold a 5040 that ran good and had good tires for $2200. In our area they do not bring much money.

	As Larry said the 5040 was built by UTB/Fiat I have a couple pretty decent old tractors almost the same tractor as the Long 445 and the Oliver 1255.Parts are very easy to find on ebay and Import Tractor in Canada has about anything for it. Also have a MF 220 which is about the same as the AC 5030 guy sold it to me cheap because he couldn't find parts he needed.

	I have a 5030; it is a handy tractor. The hydraulics are engine driven live; but the PTO is not live. But it does have an internal overruning clutch which makes it OK for brush mower work. Mine is an early 8-speed transmission; the later ones had 12-speed which adds some intermediate speeds. There is quite a jump from 4th low to the next speed (1st high). Very easy on fuel. Keep the radiator clean for cooling.

	I had a 5040. It was a handy tractor. Very fuel efficient. 40HP. Good brakes. The PS is great on them. And if there's a loader or you plan on mounting one, it's definitely needed The PTO uses the 1st stage of the 2-stage clutch; allowing travel stop while the PTO is still running. Tin-work is substantial, but the front nose is fiberglass (or something similar) and is a bit delicate.....easy to crack. Those are $$ to find/replace. The one I had was a 6-speed. 3 gears in 2 ranges. 2 reverses. Shift pattern like an Oliver. Edited by Gatz in NE - 01 Oct 2017 at 5:02pm

	I have driven a 5040, our high school bought one new and had a finish mower on it. It mowed the football fields and grounds very well. We used it in tractor driving contest during FFA events. I think the school sold it about 5 years ago. So it was in service about 30 years. My cousin has a 5050 which is almost the same as the 5040. He has over 10,000 hrs on it. He says it has been a great little tractor. Needs brakes at this time.
