Last fall there was a discussion thread regarding the grain/fert and grass seed tubes for an All-Crop Drill. I believe there's some workable options for the grain/fert tubes through AGCO, Great Plains etc, but I had never found anything suitable for the grass seed tubes, which are much narrower. I stumbled across an option this summer and thought I would share. While strolling through my local Menards store, I saw some narrow, flexible, corrugated, black tubing called "Pond Tubing". There are a couple of different sizes available but I found the 3/4" most suitable. At the bottom, I glued in some narrow PVC pipe with adhesive caulking, and secured with small cotter pins. Then I spray painted the PVC with matte black paint. The narrow ends fit nicely through the spiraled holders. 

On the drill pic, the tube on the left is an original, the next two are my reproductions, then another original, two reproductions, and an original.

That is a great tip Kyle..thanks for sharing.  Could you post a close-up pic of the PVC pipe insertion with the cotter pins?

Great plains has a 3/4 x 22 inch tube that I bought to use. Part #816-513c. Will post a pic when I can access my home computer.

I like it,will be doing that to my drill. I need the holders at the bottom, does Agco still have them? My manual shows a bar that runs the entire length of the drill that the hose dropped through,never seen the spring setup.

Here are pics of the bottom and top- can't really see the cotter pin at the bottom as its painted black.

It seems to me I tried to find the spring holders in the past, with no luck via Agco. I started to make a few, with OK results, using stock steel rods that were a slightly narrower gauge, and then bending in the spirals. I was able to find a parts 11x7 this summer and that had the tube holders that I was able to use.

I also have a 24x7 (14') All Crop drill- restoration in progress, which has the solid bar across the back, and the seed tubes are rigid.  I haven't gotten that far yet, but I suspect for the grass seed tubes I'll just end up using pvc pipe and painting them black.

I'm not sure exactly the rhyme or reason for the grass seed tube arrangements, i.e. flexible tubes/spiral holders vs. solid bar/rigid tubes as well as chain drags vs. press wheels. My 24x7 has press wheels. Aside from my 24x7, the only ones I've seen are 11x7's that have the spiral holders and chain drags.

I bought a grain drill that did not have the drop tubes with it. I have never replaced the tubes and when the grass comes up it is in rows made from the cover disc blades. I also do not have the drag chains. The first rain puts the seeds in the grooves. Might be a problem with out rain but I try to sow the seed ahead of a rain.


I just reseeded a field Monday with a broad cast seeder and followed up with my Oliver non wheel disc set very light pulling a cultipacker. Got a little bit of left over Irma rain yesterday. Still have a couple acres yet to reseed the same way.

 (70)317592 support. I had a box of them made about 4/5 years ago from an old sample.  I paid over $800 and they were wrong.   Would not correct so all are sitting here.....Dale

Are these original old stock grain tubes?   Or aftermarket? How many do you have and how $ ?

the tubes are aftermarket and fit well. have 14 at $11.00 each. call 815-238-4506
