Magneto drive bushing installation help

I need to replace the brass bushing that the magneto drive/governor rides on.  Can someone tell me from which direction the bushing should be installed--from the front of the engine, or the back?  I've looked thru the manual, but I didn't see it. I forgot to mention it's on a 1942 B.
