Can anyone give me the dimensions of the bolts I need for mounting these weights? I believe they are carriage bolts, but what strength, diameter and length?
Many thanks! |

3/4" carriage bolts. The first one that goes through the steel wheel is like 3-4" ,, it takes about 1" longer for additional weights...I don't think 1" or so too long will be a problem,, ya only use2 per weight and the extra length will jus stick out....as long as there is enough threads to tighten then up good

I still have it written down from when I bought bolts a few years ago.
3/4" carriage bolts. 3.5" long for the 1st weight and add 2.5" for each additional weight. I have 2 bolts holding on 2 weights 6" bolts. 2 more 9" bolts hold on the 3rd weight. Grade 2 bolts are plenty strong enough.

3/4" by 3 1/2" carrage bolts. Hole drilled throught the square part of the bolt for the keeper. A cotter pin is placed through the hole after the bolt is pushed through from the back side of the wheel center. The cotter pin keeps the bolt from backing out of the hole when the wieght is put on it. Edited by Dakota Dave - 19 Jul 2017 at 2:06pm |

Grade 5 carriage bolts are extremely rare because their intended use in wood doesn't need grade 5 to compress the wood.
JD did like special grade 5 carriage bolts for their rear wheel weights. Gerald J. |

None of the usual places carry 3/4" bolts around here, SE MI. I had to go to Midstate to get mine.
