Hey everyone, I looked. at this tractor today. It had been in a barn for years until last fall. They got it out got it going disked about ninety acres with it, he down shifted power director to turn around then up shifted to high and something came apart. He said it choked down like PD locked up. With the clutch petal pushed in the engine runs but when clutch is released engine will stall.

Sounds like the power director low and high hollow shafts have seized together. It was a known problem with the early tractors.

If it will still move in neutral the gear is seized to the shaft though.

I have to admit, that Massey cab on a 7000 series doesn't look aesthetically bad to me. We all know that this was probably mounted poorly and rattles like no other, but still, that cab on that body just kind of looks right to me

My 7050 did that to me this spring, it is faster to fix if you can find a good complete transmission than to try and cut the old shaft apart and remove. The input shaft is only compatible on a 7030 and 7050 all the others are different. The other transmissions will work in a complete swap, the input gears and shafts are different (if trying to find just the input shaft). You can use a newer input shaft, but you will have to pull the transmission to change the gears on the counter-shaft to make it work.
