It was the one used to tighten the nuts on Frankenstein's head.

Not sure, but they buy all those green tractors too, so they must have a pretty good stockpile somewhere.

It's a special wrench for a Dain tractor.  John Deeres first attempt at building a tractor.

I've got a large Allis wrench for tightening the sprocket nut on an HD 21.  I wonder what that might be worth? LOL

LOL. You would need to get your iron from the scrap yard to get the correct 'look', so that would cut the costs, so you would get even more profit. LOLLOL

Heck just start with an old green tractor then you can honestly say it is JD old ion. Salvaged from a scrap yard should add authenticity.

So...because it says "Dain", it was associated with the tractor prior to JD purchasing the company. I have a set of Dain wrenches both cast, and stamped steel. I know for a fact they came with an all wood side delivery rake that is in my barn that my Grandfather used. I could say they are associated with the actual tractor and try to make a few bucks too. I would have to see where the wrench is used on the tractor, or know if there are any other markings that would verify its correct use.
Pre-WW2 A-C tractors on steel wheels...because I'm too cheap to buy tires!

Just play slightly dumb about where they came from tell the auction that your dad had the tractor back in the day and you just found these tucked away in the corner of the shed..

When its all said and done you have to admire the corporate thinkers at John Deere that have managed to keep a loyal customer base, stayed  in business while many other tractor companies failed and have admirers willing to spend that kind of money on their old products. Buying a rare wrench is no different than buying something like a diamond rink, old painting,or some historical artifact from some long dead person owned.
I got laughed at a lot in the 70's and early 80's for buying up old 'useless' farm tractors
for next to nothing.
