I know this is a dumb question and there's probably an obvious answer but here goes. Why is it that when you hook the pto of any implement to a tractor there is only one spot that it will go the tractor and "lock on"? It sure would make life sooo much easier if it would hook up anywhere you had lined up with splines--especially with some of the newer shafts with CV joints that all one man can handle.

I can't say as I've ever had that problem. Is it a new shaft?

The tractor shaft doesn't have a lock out all 6 splines in a 540 are identical and all 15 in a 1000. It should line up anywhere. If it doesn't check for damage to one of the sides. Some implements have a block out spot on the shaft JD does on about all their stuff I couldn't guess why but I assume it is because nothing runs like a deere.... ie they have to do it their way.
But that is only on the two halves of the shaft that is on the implement not the implement to tractor. Edited by Dan73 - 14 Feb 2017 at 6:13pm |
