Hi guys, I DID search but only came up with this - http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=51611&title=6140-hyd-trans-filter from awhile ago.

I have looked online and really haven't found anything other than the "this might work" sort of thing. I've called local tractor dealers (and yes, also those that sold the Allis line back in the day), NAPA and other parts stores, etc. but am not able to find any part number(s) other than what bhurley52 posted in the thread I linked, above.

I need: 1. Transmission Filter (an elongated spin-on), and 2. the hydraulic filter element, the small one that fits in the housing beneath the seat. In other words, the same two originally asked about by Outrage in that thread.

A guy who just bought a farm a few miles from mine stopped the other day to introduce himself, mainly because he saw the 6140 and said he used to own one. I asked him if he knew about these two parts and where I might find them, because the filter is getting pretty rusty and the numbers etc. are gone. He laughed and told me that there's a good reason it's rusty, no one replaced them if they weren't rotted through and leaking because the dealers charged more than $100 for them and that was decades ago. I don't care what they cost at this point, having that filter blow will cause a lot more damage than $100.

OK, thanks!

I found AGCO Allis p/n 72099245, contacted a dealer for Kioti tractors and he was able to confirm but cannot access the part, but said a side note indicated that it would cross reference with NAPA's commercial filters... a call back to NAPA, nope. So I used the one bhurley52 posted, and the guy at NAPA said yes, that one DOES match NAPA p/n 1268 for under $11... Any reasons why not to go ahead with it, and I'm all ears. Otherwise I'll be heading there soon.

Hi Tim,
Did the filter work out for you?  I have been using this hydraulic filter for several years with no issue.  I have not been able to find the filter element for under the seat.  I guess I will keep my fingers crossed on that one.
