Why do things break before a holiday weekend?

Was putting the combine back in the shed tonight, as we are expecting some rain early tomorrow.  When I shut it off, I climbed up the rear ladder to check the exhaust flapper (a family of birds have made me very mad in the past).  Sure enough, I see a puddle of coolant on the fuel tank, and the back.  The water pump has some serious wiggle to it.  Of course, I can't get parts tonight, and with the holiday, tomorrow is out as well.  

In the mean time, can I repair it, or should I just get a reman?  It is an F2

reman's usually have a better warranty that OEM

Our toro mower just died today like it was out of gas. But it wasn't. Got family coming Sunday. It's ten years old and never missed a beat.
