Does anybody know where the tach cable goes on an Allis 175 diesel. The cable was unhooked and missing from mine and I’ve got no idea where it connects to. It has an alternator like 3 wire delco on it. Thanks for any and all help

The original Alternator had a drive shaft off the back from the main alternator shaft, then there was a gear box that attached and the cable connected there. My 180 is similar.

As said, alternator should have a tach drive with 3 screws that attach the drive cable. That needs to be removed when replacing the oil filter. It would be cheaper to buy the correct alternator if not already on it. Another option is to a magnetic drive.

Here is what you need.  DJs sells alternators with the drive coming out the back.  The one on my 175 had been taken off 20 years ago, but stumbled across it when cleaning out the barn some years ago.
