Needing to fix a bad rim on my D17.  Have thought about not putting fluid back in them.  I'm in desperate need of counter weight in the winter, but could make a weight with a 55 gallon drum full of concrete.  Math says the drum would weigh around 800-900 lbs.  16.9 75% full of fluid are around 700 lbs each.  Would maybe have an issue if I were moving snow with my blade, but I haven't done that in several years.  Tractor does about 75% loader work.

Fluid in the tires will be easier on the axles and bearings. And be better for lateral stability. On the other hand the drum of concrete will be further from the front axle and so have a longer lever arm so will do a pretty good job. Parking the drum is easier than getting the liquid out of the tires but gets in the way of using implements behind the tractor with the loader attached.

Either will probably work good enough.

I looked at doing used antifreeze in my 7000. Local bone yard had it for $1.00/gallon.

I ended up filling them with water and will drain them before winter. Obviously that won't work in your case, so maybe the antifreeze is the best option.

I bought beet juice. Weight in the tire where you want it and won't rust out my rim. Kinda spendy tho.

Would a set of wheel weights get you enough weight? My d17 has the pie weights on it they are 300 lbs per side. I don't use it in the winter or have a loader on it but she will pull like crazy I have used way too big equipment behind her and she doesn't seem to mind. Well ok the drawbar bends down when I pull the 930 jd moco but that is a monster way too big really.   Just need to get the case 5240 transmission fixed so my d17 doesn't hat to do that job.....

I good amount of weight is pretty important with a loader. I would go back with fluid again. Pretty annoying when you just spin when trying to push snow because you're too light back there.
