One of the local flour mills had a fire and the first picture was an Allis Chalmers mill.
Interesting to see how old that machine was.

dust explosions were not that uncommon best I remember in the old milling days. This may have been a bearing down or friction,,, wonder how old that mill is ?
When told "it's not the money,it's the principle", remember, it's always the money..

They’re about 40s/50s vintage. The Nordyke Marmon mills came first in the 20s & 30s, then these.

Looks like they didn’t have the safety stops set. The mill ran without product with the chills touching. That’s why there’s burn marks all the way across. A bearing failure will usually show more damage on one end than the other.
