Sadly, my first guess would be in some form of "Chinese" made steel part from the recycled carcass  . Just a guess though. We never saw many of that model "here", 180's, 190's (straight and XT's) and then the 7000 series .

I'll bet there's a fellow in Georgia that doesn't know up from down that could come up with serial number 1005 if you asked him to  He's been able to find a serial number that don't exist, so anything is possible. He could most likely find #1001 although the number might end up upside down

The first One-Eighty was built on May 24th, 1967 at serial number 1007. The oldest piece of One-Eighty advertising literature that I have is July of 1967. Interestingly, the oldest piece of One-Seventy advertising literature I can find was also dated July 1967, which was before they were officially being built !! This literature shows a picture of a One-Seventy diesel plowing in high second gear and the gearshift was the short/stubby D-17 lever, not a new One-Seventy lever. So, a prototype was used for that picture.

Dr, I've not been on a 170. Is the shifter on them similar to a 180 ? I must admit now that you brought it up, the "stubby" '17 shifter was alot handier to navigate around . Thanks

I have 1132 which according to the book was sold by Deans Farm Supply in Hillsdale Michigan in Oct 1967.

I thought they always used #1001 as the first one.

Seat sits in the same exact position as the D-17. The new curved forward shift lever was to allow easier getting on and off the tractor and more room when sitting in the seat. They couldn't do that on the D-17 because the instrument panel was too close. Looks like s/n 1001 thru 1004 were prototype tractors and production started at 1005.

According to my assumption. The serial number book says the first one was 1005. I ASSUME 1001-1002-1003-1004 were proto's.
