Hello, I recently acquired an Allis 185 with a bucket attachment. I am wondering if anyone in here can help me find the part numbers for the filters? If I am correct there's oil, transmission/hydraulics, fuel, and air filter. I would like to get these changed and help my tractor last as long as it can. What type of oil should I use as well? I live up in Wisconsin so it does get cold in the winter when I'll be using the tractor to plow. Any other maintenance help would be appreciated as well, like where are all the grease points. Any help, or even a point in the right research direction is greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Your local Agco/Masssey dealer will sell you the correct filters and oil.
After you have the part(s) numbers you can go to your local auto parts for the engine oil filter cross reference or maybe Walmart for oil. It just depends how deep are your pockets? |

Engine oil filter is AGCO # 74027979, fuel filter is AGCO # 74028945, Hydraulic oil filter is AGCO # 70239930 for the short one and 70253952 for the tall filter. I sell the tall hydraulic filter for the 180-185 tractors where i work. Air filter is AGCO # 70243163.

Get an operator's manual for your tractor. They can be found cheap on e-bay. It will tell you everything you need to know about the tractor, including lubrication spots and the types of fluids and their capacities.

Welcome to the forum. Google AGCO parts books. View as a guest. This will be a good tool for any repairs you may need. They also have the BEST operators and service manuals.

A good 15WX40 diesel engine oil will work. A 10WX30 diesel engine oil will work well for you in the winter. I ran 15WX40 in all my AC'S since 1976. I do run it year around, but I am usually able to pick my winter days when I use the tractors. I put out enough hay on warm days to last for several weeks at a time, usually can find another warm day in that time to put out more hay. You will be wanting to use straight #1 diesel fuel in Dec, January, and Febuary, maybe thru March if it stays down in the zero degree temp range.

WELCOME TO THE FORUM, the best place on the net to talk A-C tractors! Nice to see another member from WI join! I see REEDE beat me to the numbers, but if you are within driving distance of NE Wisconsin near Shawano, I have all those filters on the shelf under the Baldwin brand of filter except the air filter, here at my Allis-Chalmers tractor repair shop. If you have any other questions about your 185, this forum is the place to ask- lots of knowledgeable guys here.
