This is my 1956 Allis chalmers WD45. It did not run when I got it(the engine was seized), and I am in the middle of restoring it.

Seems I remember your post a few months back when you were dragging it out of the woodes. Glad you got it home OK and finally the weather, circumstances are allowing you to start working on it.
Myself, I wouldn't worry too much about the charging system until you get it running and know that you don't need a different engine or if you have to rebuild this one. Also, once running you can get a fair guess of transmission, rear end, hydraulics etc. Just go through gas system making sure you have good supply of fresh clean gas. Probably a good idea to just do a rebuild of carburator. Roll engine over with hand crank to insure it's not locked up. Pull plugs and put a tablespoon of so of oil in cylinders and crank over by hand slowly with plugs removed to oil cylinders. Put a fresh battery on and leave plugs out to blow out any excess oil at this point, install new plugs and attempt to start. Oops, probably with have to at least clean points or just put in new points and condensor. Check that you have spark. Now, do the sentence on trying to start. A good fresh battery should allow you to start and run it easily long enough to determine the other mechanical conditions.

Now I see your last post. I still wouldn't worry about charging system until it's running and you can determine condition of rest of tractor.
