Ok don't shoot, this is about a Deere field cultivator that I stumbled upon and had questions.  I know its sacrilege but this forum has been so damn helpful I can't help but to ask:

Anyone able to identify this unit or know where I can find out how to utilize it on a 3 point?  I know I have to convert my CA over which is fine but I can't find a manual, pictures, etc anything on this hog.

I need more than 200 characters for my "signature." I'd love to see that changed to 250!

Back in the day, they were pretty good cultivators. Spent many hours on a four row.

It is a row crop cultivator not a field cultivator.             MACK

John Deere RG row cultivator. Spent many a day operating my Dad’s RG 830(8 row 30” behind his JD 4020 diesel. Usually they had two pipe gangs between rows. One longer pipe gang had a front & rear shovel(s). Another shorter pipe gang had a front & mid shovel(s). Both pipe gangs had front depth gauge wheels.

But like yours, a few models either had short gang removed by farmer or may have been ordered to only be one gang?
What crop are you going to be cultivating?

You asked: "How to utilize on a 3 point". I guess I don't really know what you're asking? The lower 2 pins are there, and a top link will go from the hole between the 2 straps up high in the front/center to your tractor. The gauge wheels will drop to the ground when you lower the 3 point, and away you go.

If that's not what you're after.....sorry and please clarify.

Thanks for the replies!  I intend to use it mainly for food plots at our hunting land as we have a large (13 acre) farm field to monkey with.  I guess my main questions would be how to set this thing up and if anyone knew where to find a manual for it, stuff like that.  Ive been searching Google and coming up blank based on the model number.

Not much to set up by the looks of it.  Hook it up and go to the field.  Adjust the length of your top link to get the depth of the coulters and cultivator shovels the same.

Hope you have some weight on the front of your CA.  That toolbar looks pretty beefy.

We have the folding 8 row big brother still use it set the depth gauge wheels and adjust the top link so it runs level when in the ground. They do a good job in the pinto beans that's the only crop we use it for. It's probably a lot to heavy for a CA and will leave strips since it's a row crop cultivator.

D Dave, I think he called it a field cultivator because he's going to cultivate a field...maybe not knowing there are "field cultivators" and row crop cultivators

Should be able to move everything in, cut some weight off and give it a try. Most that will happen is break the shoes off if ground is tight or stand up the CA.

Sadly I will admit that when I was 10 years old, I hooked up our Burch 4x38" row crop cultivator onto the D-17 and "tilled" an end row (it wasn't planted yet) to see what could be achieved Embarrassed . Surprisingly in 6'th gear, 3/4 throttle and cross hatch pattern , it made an EXCELLENT seed bed Wink . Speed was the key !! Dad was at work and wondered how I did it when he got home, sadly I fibbed and said the disk Cry .

You will have to buy 3pt hitch adaptor for the CA to adapt your snap coupler hitch to 3pt hitch. It may be a bit heavy for your CA.
