For some reason when I say "I am not going to buy anymore pieces of equipment for the collection this year" I end up with those too good too pass deals. lol

I actually bought this blower last year from MattMN when he found it out in the Dakotas some where, but didnt get it home till a few weeks ago.  Matt and his Uncle Harlan were gracious enough to bring it down to the show in Rochester MN for me!  It is a 480-L and has the rare long hopper for rear unload boxes.  I have only  heard of a few others of these and this is the first one I have seen in person.

The paint is amazing and it even has some paint on the blower paddles yet!

I saw this spreader on YTmag the other day and just couldnt pass it up.  I have been trying to buy a good New Idea to use for fun but everytime I was at a sale someone wanted it one more bid than I did.  So we made the trip yesterday I guess I had to add another A-C to the herd!
On the way back home we stopped by at KennyL's and picked up the snap coupler blade I bought from him.  Thanks again Kenny!  Your a great guy I dont care what they say! lol

The spreader is in great shape!  The guy I bought it from said it had came from a sheep farm.  There is a fair amount of paint on inside of the machine including some on the apron and floor!

The tires have awesome tread but show signs that they were sunk in the dirt.  Im hoping they hold out for me.

I had bought it with intentions of using it once and a great while but was faced with a dilemma after I saw how really nice it was.  Well it so happened that we had some rotten hay and some calf pens that needed hauling out today.  The calf pens were mostly staw so I said what the heck.  I figured I would regret not running it a bit over not running it at all.  I guess I was right! lol  It worked great!

Heres a few decal shots.

This one was stuck on at 4:59 pm. lol

Thanks for looking.
Jim

That looks like a 80 bu. ground drive. It's in great shape.
I have a140 pto drive. I was looking for an 80 but the 140 popped up at a good price,
so I bought it. I'm missing the large drive wheel on the right side. I have the small one and only drive the lower beater. Bob

That is a nice looking spreader. I've got a JD R spreader that I need to drag home one of these days, but it's in awful shape.

Some nice stuff there Jim.  I really admired that blower when Matt delivered it to our show.

My uncle had a 480 short hopper blower when I was a kid. I loved the sound of it in action. It brings back a lot of memories. Nice to see there are still a few around.

Cool Jim.  I've never even heard of a blower like that.  My grandpa had a long hopper blower but it was belt drive and those seem to be pretty common.

Thanks guys.

The 480 blowers did not have an engine drive option, but the early 30 series and forage blowers did have an engine drive option.  We have an engine drive forage blower with a B125 power unit.  I have seen later 30 series blowers with D14 power units on it as well.  The 480 series had a completely different frame and blower style so the engine drive option was gone.

Nice equipment, outstanding condition!  I always wondered if you could turn one of those blowers 90 degrees and use it as a leave blower.  I have a bunch of maples in the front yard that seem to drop all at once every fall!

Man, that blower brings back old memories from when I was a younger person in the late 50's early 60's ours had the long hopper also for unloading chopper boxes from the back. I remember having an electric motor connected to a gear box that turned a PTO shaft that was attached to a round tube with cables attached to it to pull a sliding front end gate toward the rear so you could hook the silage into the blower all (OSHA) approved for sure. Thanks for sharing and reminding me of my age😊

Sorry Steve I can remember Mike coming out with someone a number of years ago. Was I around or just my Dad? Hard to remember sometimes. I do know the Zidlicky name for sure. A friend of mine from high school was related to the Zidlicky's, he was an Oyloe I think his Mother's maiden name is Zidlicky.
