I am in the process of mounting a Farmhand F225A loader on my Series III d-17. The loader is designed to run off the tractor hydraulic system. Would this work well with my tractor or should I us a pto driven hydraulic pump?
Thanks |

I would use a front mounted hydraulic pump then you have live power it is what ac did on the loaders oem.

I agree. Series III hydraulic pump only puts out 1.5 gpm at 3500 psi - using that loader would be painfully slow. Rig up a front pump (around 10 gpm at 2200 psi) to run off the crank pulley with a separate hydraulic reservoir and you will be much happier. |

Thanks. does that take a special pump or can you adapt a pto driven pump to that use?

That is a long thread but page 9 I think has photos of the shaft for the front mounted hydraulic pump. It has to spin at motor rpm not the 540 of a pto pump. If you have a pto pump you can save money by using it. The front mounted pump will give you live hydraulics but you need to get the mount drive shaft flywheel hub adaptor and a coupler to adapt it to the hydraulic pump. I know I have posted the parts I used before in here not sure where the thread is though. I think the thread above about Joes d14 will point you in the right direction. The setup is the same on a d14 and d17 but the shaft lenght to the pump is different. Hope that helps. |
