? Engine block heater

my 180D came with a "kats" brand heater, I plugged it in once and it didn't work, so I replaced it with a new one, and it still don't work! then I gots a magnetic one that clunks up on the oil pan, it heats the oil good, but still wasn't nuff to help it start, need a good water heater one like you want! I like the ones that come on the 7000 series tractors, don't know if they are available for the 100 series tractors or not!

Try one of the universal "coffee pot" heaters, that draw from the block drain, and dump hot coolant, into the thermostat bypass hose.  Used to have one on the old D-19, not a 301, but same general shape.  If you want to do it sans plumbing or electric, a Perfection 500 kerosene wick heater slides right under the oil pan...

The block heater is the same for example on both a 180 and a 7020.  The one on my father's 185 warms it up really nicely in an hour or two to make for easy starting in cold weather.  It's the original one and still works great today.  If you want to put a heater on, I'd get one from AGCO or a similarly designed one that goes in the block.  301 blocks have a heater with a flange and gasket and two bolts that hold it on the engine. I think that 426 blocks have one that's more like a water heater element in that it screws into a threaded hole in the block.
