Does anyone have a simple idea to get the left hand drum out of the final drive on my CA? This sucker is in there quite aways and I don't want to have to buy a long reach Puller for one use. I took the retaining bolt out of it but can't seem to wiggle the key way loose or anything.

You can use threaded rod for a puller and lot of heat from the fire wrench. Bob

You may be able to rent a puller from an equipment rental shop.
The universal answer to all questions is yes, how much do you want to spend?

Check with your local Auto Zone or other auto parts store. At least Auto Zone has tools to rent & you get all of your money back when you take the tool back.

Just make sure before you heat it up ,to have the puller on and set with pressure on it and ready to start pulling as soon as .

I gave up on pullers years ago. The drums rest in an environment that promotes rust. Mice nests along with insect nests.

Fighting those conditions with a puller will work in time with heat and hours/days of soaking with penetrating oil.
I found if I take it off the tractor, clean out the crap, put it up on my press and in a coupla minutes after I have it blocked leval the drum is in my hands.

You were able to press the pinion shaft straight out with the drum attached? Then the drum just slid off the shaft?

That be what happens! The pinion shaft dropps out the bottom and I just reach in and pick it out.
I have one in front of my press now from a B and a couple three more to bring in.
When I get time to work on them and if I have my camera with me I will take more pictures at the different steps.  Not sure when that will be though. When I think I will have time to get at those More orders come in, which by the way is a good thing. I eat better when the orders are coming in.
