Just wondering if it would be helpful to add an inline gas/fuel filter in B gasline.
The line is copper. I appreciate your thoughts. I have heard both pro & con.

I replaced the sediment bowl on my CA 15 or so years ago, fabbed up a new steel line, and have never been inside the carb since.

I had trouble finding an in-line filter that did not cause restriction so I eventually just eliminated one on my B.   I still run a rubber hose however so it is not quite factory setup.
Tractors did use copper in those days.
Sediment bowls do the job,  I find the bowl gaskets to be an aggravation.

I have used metal inline filters on 12 to 15 tractors over the years and have had no trouble at all. I get them Napa or Auto Zone or O'Riellys. I have tried to use the plastic and have had trouble with flow,so I always use the metal ones. Good luck and have a good day.  Gary

Trouble I had was picking the right ones for low restriction.  We had some on diesels that were low restriction but the can was quite large.  I think they were used on many Case and White tractors.
I would take the plastic ones off and blow thru them and they seemed wide open but if you installed one and ran the little B above idle it would start to miss in a short time.

I have this one on my B and I am sure it is not restricting, I can turn the fuel off and it takes about a minute to run the gas out of the carb.
But I do think I am going to put a steel line on it to replace the rubber one.

I do not use an inline filter on any of my tractors.  Keep the tank clean, clean the carb, and keep the strainer clean.  You will not have any problems.

Inline filters aren't a bad thing. If you have a lot of debris in the fuel tank, your welcoming fuel delivery and running problems. If you do decide to use an inline fuel filter, make sure its designed for a gravity fed system. You can pick up these type filters in any store that sells Lawn Mower parts. The best thing to do is clean the tank, fuel line(s) and carburetor and use dry gas everytime you add fuel to the tank. Dry gas keeps the water out of the fuel which starts rust in those older cast iron carbs, and corrosion in the cast aluminum bowled carbs....

I picked up a plastic one specified for Onan (I think) engines at NAPA. It's in my line after the sediment bulb, and the tractor runs well. However, I haven't really loaded my B down so I don't know that it will handle activities like plowing. It didn't have any problem revving or staying at high idle.

The joy is in the journey.

I don't use one and never had a problem with just the sediment bowl but I also have a clean tank and strain my gas.

here is my question,,, if your sediment bowl is up to snuff why would you need another filter???  out of twenty tractors none of mine have a inline filter. dont see any reason for it.

I've fixed quite a few carb problems by removing the filter.  With the right ones, you are fine, but as said before, the strainer does it's job well, and good gas with a clean tank prevents the whole problem to begin with.
