What is best leveling drag or  spring tooth harrow connected to wheel disc or pull type disc. Less than 10 foot wide? Need something to take up less room when turning in fenced area. Thanks Tracy

I always pulled a 6' wide bar with cutup tractor chains behind the tandem disc. Garden's only 90' wide so turning was always  challenge...

When we still worked ground (way before I was born) we used railroad irons. Torch a couple holes for chains and just let those drag behind. I believe that grandpa always said they worked pretty well. Plus you can cut it to whatever length you want.

Spring tooth will take less room but a drag harrow will level better.

You can use most anything as everyone has stated. Just don't use something that's going to catch a lot of weeds and trash to build up. And remember, when you pick the disc up the drag is still dragging, so don't use something so big and awkward you can't pick it up and lay it on the disc to carry it.

usedta use a piece of old steel, pulled wif chains, or a locust pole, with pins in the ends, it would roll, as you disc, no jamming up...Wink

We use an I-Beam on our disc.  We bolted chains to the beam, and bolted Grab Hooks to the disc.  When we transport between fields, we shorten the chain through the grab hook, and then in the field we lengthen the chain.  As long as you are going forward it works.  You can't go backward, even with the disc lifted, as it will go under.  You also have to be careful not to turn to tightly.
The beam gives us a real nice field.

I have pipes on mine now. I really wanted something like a spring tine that would lift with the disc and not swing or stick out to far. I know someone makes them, just can't find it.Thanks Tracy

I have a Glenco Spike Tooth behind one of my field cultivators. The same drag mounts on wheel discs as well. You can google (glenco spike tooth harrow pictures) and find a picture of one mounted on a disc by scrolling thru the pictures.
