After getting the wheel weights on the 'wide front' 45, I thought I should try it on the plow. First time was up at the MIAPA show in August. Today I plowed the garden, I like plowing with this set-up. I think I will love plowing with the 185.

Love the beautiful rich black earth you have in the mid-west. Would love to have plowed with the 45 in this terrain. Here in Maryland we have sand or red clay rocky soil. Real nice looking 45. GREAT to plow with. I cannot see how many bottoms you are pulling - looks like two - but we easily pulled three here. Bet you may well be able to pull four in that earth. Remember you have a 53 - 57 tractor. You know I never cease to be amazed at how well this equipment we sold -new in my day - has held up. Yes, Allis Chalmers made them well but the tender loving care you all give them really helps. Thanks again for keeping a name I love alive. Good Luck! Thanks for posting these fall garden pictures and the good looking 45 turning over the soil! My guess its a set of 3 bottom 14's??? I was thinking of doing the same thing this fall. My plows are 5 miles away. Would be a good reason for a road trip with the D17, or the WD wide front. We used to have two farms 5 miles apart when I was a kid. Our Allis tractors had as many road miles as field miles!
We still have a few peppers in our garden.
Regards, Chris |

It is indeed a 3-14 model 53 plow and it looks like I need to raise the coulters up a little. Jay, it's back there, you can see it in the first pic.

Mike,
The coulter in the picture doesn't look too bad. What is your rear tire size? The look really nice and beefy!

Coulters are very adjustable on AC plows. Generally the bottom of the coulter should be an inch or two above the tip of the plow share.
