I have 3 dewalt 20v batteries that will not take a charge.  Any  ideas on how to get them to charge, they are less than 3  years old. Thanks Kurt

if they run down FAST, then one of the individual cells inside is bad.. If it does NOTHING, then there is a failure on the CIRCUIT BOARD inside... Probably hard for most of us to FIX that.... The board controls the charge rate, and shuts down the charge when full, etc... Not like the OLD DAYS.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

If you don't value your life to highly you can watch U tube and see people arcing rechargeable batteries them with a arc welder Wink and then try it on your batteries. Been some years since I looked so maybe new ways to put yourself at risk out now.LOL

Son sold a boat-load of DeWalt tools since the batteries would fail and replacement was almost more than the tool was worth.  Took the money and bought Ridgid with the lifetime battery warranty and is satisfied.  R. Musgrave

WHAT kind of battery ? NiCad or Li Ion ?
Either way ,odds are a single bad cell, which can be removed/replaced.
Sad thing is I got a kit(drill/impact/2 batts/chrgr/case CHEAPER than 1.5 batteries.... still have 2 complete kits in the closet here cause I just had to fix the 1st dead battery....

My Dewalt batteries seem to not be holding a charge as well too. I bought 3 new 5 Amp hour ones last spring. Battery folks got us!

hmm.. pay $90 for a real dewalt or $30 for a knock off
tough choice....not......
BTW to open most packs, use a dental pick to pop out the round  'buttons' that hide the Torx screws.Takes 20 seconds to do that, 20 minutes to find the 3rd one 'somewhere' on the floor.....don't ask about #4...it's still MIA.

changing out 1 or 2 cells can work if the battery will not HOLD a charge..... if it will not TAKE a charge, then the circuit board is BAD.......... and you are SOL.
