nick. will this 19 be a trailer queen or a work horse? cost of rehab could make it impractical for either use. this tractor sounds like a pig in a poke poster child. scrap price and up but not much more. still, a 19 d with the whistle screaming under full load is a symphony. this could be a tough one............tp studer. wooster, ohio.

Hmmmm....Gonna say $500-$1000 tops. Engine parts add up fast for cost on this motor. And new tires are through the roof on price now. I know this firsthand. Not tryin to scare ya, but if you are talkin engine work, better have 2000-3000 K ready, unless you can find a good running engine.

A good runnin 19 diesel is worth around 3500-5000 lately , but a non runner with head gasket problems , not as valuable - those were notorius for having head gasket and cracked heads problems , and good heads are becoming very scarce , but they can be welded up , $1000 seems to be the norm on a non runner , hth !!

Snap coupler or 3pt along with front end(WFE, dual tricycle, or single) make a difference in price also. I've paid around $500 a piece for two non-runners with WFE, snap coupler, and decent but rusty sheet metal. One had like new 15.5X38's. I've also paid in the $2500-3000 range for decent running ones and still put another $1000 or more in parts to get one nice one that still could use paint. HTH

I started with a good running $3500 D19d after a several years it needed overhauled, turned out to have a cracked head, took it to Chapin machine, the overhaul kit was pretty dear, had to have some machine shop work on the block by the time I had it back together I had over $3000 in the motor, this was back in the 90's.
Don't forget tires are really nuts too, so if they or worn or dry rotted you don't have much to work with. I'd probably offer $500 for it. Oh yes if you're planning on painting it you might want to check on a decal set. I bought mine from Agco back then but in took 3 to get one complete undamaged set, I assume they are available aftermarket but I doubt they are cheap. I almost forgot, replace the headbolts! The originals will be streched and you will have problems getting them tight and you can end up with a blown head gasket. Don't ask how I know.

i BOUGHT A D19 DIESEL BACK 7 OR 8 YEARS AGO AND PAID 800 FOR IT, BY THE TIME I GET IT OUT OF THE SHOP I HAD 6000 IN IT. IT TOO HAD A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. JUST BE READY FOR A BIG BILL POSSIBLY OR YOU MAY BE LUCKY AND ALL IT NEEDS IS THE HEAD FIXED. STILL IF YOU FIX IT DO NOT TRY TO WORK IT TO HARD THEY WILL NOT STAND UP TO GOOD. A LOT OF POWER BUT ALSO A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH COLLING IT IF YOU WORK IT TO HARD. I TAKE MINE TO MY FALL PLOW DAY AND PULL A 4 BOTTOM SNAP PLOW THAT MY GRAND DAUGHTER DRIVES AND IT HAS NO TROUBLE WITH THIS JUST HAVE TO BE CAREFULL. HOPE THIS HELPS. DAVE

Makes no difference if it had a bad head bolt or not.....it just sped up the failure a bit.....they all blow head gaskets in time.

Prolly has the same issue my D17D did, sunken sleeves. Only way to really do it right would be complete overhaul and not skimp on machine work...
