Alright guys need some help here d19 gas I’ve been playing with the generator and had her charging beautifully sat for a day after I had it going and started it up to go pull my d17 out of the mud since I played with the generator and regulator i was keeping an eye on the charging amps and she was charging good with the throttle up and going down to zero when reved Down normal right..... right anyways parked her and about an hour of bull ting with a buddy went to show him the lights that I also recently got going...I got nothing but I slight dim I thinking hmmm old battery threw the charger on her came back an hour later charger said check battery disconnected the positive ground and hooked the charger back up and voltage went up to normal so just kinda playin around and I touched the ground cable to her see if she was drawing anything she was so I was doing that and looking. Around the tractor and noticed it’s trying to spin my generator like an electric motor noted key is off and showing a -15 amprs draw and she was just charging good before being shut down I’m wondering if bad regulator or bad key switch Anybody have any idea what would cause this sorry kinda drawn out but just trying to get the back story about it out there

Yup. The cutout part of the regulator isn't working. It's not opening, allowing the battery to discharge through the generator when the tractor is shut off..

Alvin and Doug are correct.  The way the generator works is it has residual magnetism that allow it to make enough juice to pull in the cutout relay to connect it to the battery and start charging.  If the relay doesn't open it will try to run the generator like an electric motor and run the battery down.  You can pull the cover off of most regulators and check to see if the cutout relay points are stuck or just replace the regulator like others suggested.
