Yes, only the block you will have to change the liners.

Yes, a lot of D19D were converted to gas back in the day. The liners are the most important thing to be changed on the block. Hopefully your block will take the wider lip liners.

Block, crank, rods, sleeves are the same and the cam will work , might even make it run better. MACK

We are in that process now with a D-17 diesel. Using a rebuilt C II gas block that didn't go to the field after it was rebuilt. As was said above, block, sleeves, crank, are the same. Cam is not the same. Diesel rods are drilled to oil the pins. Be sure to get a head gasket with the thicker fire rings and the ARP head stud kit. Have all the original A-C parts books to cross check part numbers.

Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

My D17D series 1 has a gas combine block in it. The early 262 diesel has the water pump on the head like a WD45D. My head was in very good condition, but I couldn't find an early diesel block so I got a later block and made a plate to cover the water pump hole. It's been running like that for 3 years now. Diesel cams aren't the same, but you can use a gas cam in a diesel. The sleeves are the same. The only difference was years ago when the counterbores in the block would erode and drop the sleeves, A-C had a special tool for the mechanics to recut the bores deeper and a thicker flanged sleeve to make up the difference.
