I'm getting closer to putting my engine back together. The machine shop still has the block and crank. I had to have the counter bores fixed. I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to prevent the bores from having this problem again aside from meticulously maintaining the cooling system? I've seen coolant filters on heavy trucks. Seems like they have an additive booster included with the filter. Has anyone ever seen a kit to add a coolant filter to an engine?

A lot of 301s and 426s had them added.  I have one on my 7000.  You just have to make sure you get a filter with the self releasing additive package inside the filter.  Some are just water filters and others have the filter and the additive inside.
