I bought this tractor yesterday. I am wondering what you guys think its value is. I am new to the forum. I have been reading on here for a couple years. I own a 720 and d17 series IV gas wide front and now I bought this narrow front yesterday. It is a series IV with factory 3 pt. It came with the snowblower on the back. It

Well the price will vary wildly so if you are happy with what you paid then you are the only one that matters. It looks to be in great shape and the cab will be a plus in the winter using the snow blower.

From my experience the Series 4s have lost value.

That'll be a nice warm cabbed tractor for snow removal. Value - if I removed snow all day, stayed comfortable, & got to operate an AC tractor doing it, then that weighs big for me! Gas will start easy when really cold - big plus. I'm probably way off on pricing tractor, loader, & snow blower; but I'll say $5,000-7,500...

Has any one seen a cab like this on a d17? To me it looks like it has been modified to fit by using a cab from a different model.

I noticed that tractor on CL yesterday, it looked a bit odd to me as I can't recall ever seeing a cab on a 17. I thought the price listed was a bit high but then looked closer and saw that it included the blower, which looked to be in pretty good shape.
I think the narrow front would be a minus to some, as well as the trip bucket loader v. all hyd. Having the gas cap inside the cab might be a bit of a hassle. But the cab would be nice to have for the snowblower(I sold my blower on my open station 17 as I was tired of having the wind change) and the series IV has all the goodies I wish I had on my series 1. Tires looked pretty good as well. Factory 3 pt is a plus. If the engine is in good shape and everything works you probably did pretty fair, I assumed you knocked the asking price down a bit. Welcome to the forum! cheers, Creek |

Series IV with factory 3 pt always fetch a premium. Narrow front to me is a detriment; to some people it is a plus. I don't think that there ever was any company that made a cab specifically for a D 17, so I'd say that's someone's creation. If done in good taste, it has functional value, but not collectable value. Snow blower has value, as well as the loader. Tire condition is huge. I'd value it somewhere between 4 grand, and 7,500. Just my two cents worth. Darrel

Narrow fronts are a plus when maneuvering in tight spaces.I prefer the ride of wide front(my 45) but spent the learing/early years on dad's narrow front WD.

My series 4 diesel, less than 100 hours on a complete overhaul, new clutch, newer Firestone tires on 4 corners, factory 3 point, new brakes, new bearings in the tranny, not a gear jumper, wouldnt take $6000.00 for it.

I am going to pick it up today! I will get some more pictures of it in the next couple days and post them. I want to look the cab over a little more when I get it home and see If I can figure out what it came from.

Full Vision made a cab for the D17's. The cab in the picture is obviously retrofitted from another model tractor

narrow fronts bring less money here in the hillsides of pa. the cab is a retro fit, but looks like they did a good job and didn't butcher the machine. d17 bring a premium price around here especially the later series.

I picked it up for 2500. It did not have time to get more pictures yesterday. Hopefully I can do that this weekend. The tires are not as good as I originally thought. They are very usable and not all weather checked. It has had 30 hours put on it in the last 6 years according to the hours and date wrote on the oil filter. It has been converted to an alternator instead of a generator. They did a nice job with that and did not butcher up the sheet metal when they did it. It has one rear remote. Two would be nice. It did not come with fenders so if ever pull the cab I will need to find some. The snowblower is a 6.5' allied. It has all manual controls but appears to be in nice shape. The loader is.... well its an old trip bucket that probably does what it supposed to do. I will probably take it off for now so it is easier to work on/clean up the tractor. The transmission stays in all gears and the power director seems to work well. It runs decent. It has a little miss at low idle. I think a carb job and a good tune up will take care of that. I do not see any major leaks yet.
