Series II

Got my seals back in the power steering unit and cleaned out the reservoir. Starting the tractor the steering is jerky. I assume air is in the system? How do I purge it out?

I need to source the temperature sender housing, anyone know of one?

While the tractor was running it looked like water (antifreeze) was coming out from the carb to manifold connection. It was wet and cool but did not smell like gas. I can't see how water would be coming from there? I pulled the manifold off but saw no sign of any fluids.

        If you turn the wheel all the way to the right and to the left after a while it should bleed the air out. The throat of the carb will do that with certain weather conditions and make tractor run different at times.

Still need the temp sender housing. Previous owner buggered up the housing and welded the sender head to the housing. The sender is bad so the only way I see to replace it is with a whole new setup.

Did you clean out around the needle bearing in the housing? Mine was jerky and there was a fair amount of stuff in there between the end of the shaft and the housing. That shaft has to move fore and aft for the valve to move. The only problem I had was the buildup of sluge. There is also a specific adjustment for the big nut on the shaft.

It was smooth before I took it off to replace the steering shaft seal, I cleaned out the sludge in the bottom as much as could but otherwise hooked it back up and put new oil in it.
