Does anyone still offer a 4" bore sleeve & piston kit for a G226? I have part numbers for the OEM kits of varying compression ratios, but local dealer says they are all NLA. I don't really want to use a 4-1/8" kit if I don't have to, as years ago when I worked at an Allis Dealer it seemed like tractors would come in with coolant in the cylinders from a broken  sleeve flange and they always had the 4-1/8" S & P in them. This was 45+ years ago so maybe something has changed with the quality of the liner and this is no longer a problem.

70257452 4" 7.25-1 C/R
70257458 4" 8.25-1 C/R
70257859 4" 8.00-1 C/R
70257457 4' 5.83-1  C/R

I would be ok with any of the above kits other than the 5.83-1 kit.

I think maybe someone has 4 inch sleeves available. I was thinking about buying some of those and having custom Power Crater 8.0 to 1 pistons made for the 4 inch sleeves. Wouldn't be cheap, but I've always felt the 4 1/8" bores with no compression was just a giant step backwards in power and fuel economy.

The same website also shows an 8.25 to 1 kit under the 170 tractor. They call it an LPgas kit which would be correct for a D-17 LPgas.

We have a 175 piston & sleeve kit, 8.25:1 ratio, A-C #257548 in stock for $922.
Also have aftermarket piston & sleeve kit, 8.25:1 ratio with 4.125 bore available.
And NOS D17, WD45, WD pistons 229718 available.

That is interesting. I few years ago I was looking pretty hard at 8.25 kits. I was able to find and buy a Reliance 4" kit but I never saw a 4.125 overbore 8.25 Kit. That would be a step up for those pushing for more power.

1/8" overbore at the same compression ratio is probably 3 to 4 more HP at the PTO.

I have sold one of those 8.25:1 4.125" bore kits to a customer who pulls his WD and has told me its working great! We also installed that kit in a local 170 tractor and that has been working great too! I would not recommend that kit with the WD/WD45 crankshaft or if the D17 crank has been turned down more than .010.

It's good to know some of these options are available again. 5 years ago when I was buying there was only one 4" 8.25 kit left on the shelf with no prospect of another run.

A lot of guys have replaced the 201(4") WD crankshaft with a 226 (4.5") WD45 in the original 201 block. I think that's what Alex was talking about.

Good catch! Tractor was a WD45 not a WD. Hard to keep track of all the sales and repairs I make lol
