    Posted: 18 Aug 2017 at 6:50pm
Did not realize that tire sizing was next to rocket science.  New 6 x 16 rims, 6 lug D17 rims are on their way and I need to find tires to match.  If I understand tire sizing correctly, a 6 X 16 rim is 6 inches wide at the bead and will take a wider than 6 inch tire.  A 6 x 16 inch tire is 6 inches wide from sidewall to sidewall, not bead to bead.  Armed with this understanding nothing makes sense searching the net for tires.  Yes, I should rely on the brick and mortar tire dealer where my retirement tractor is located but I need to have everything in hand and mounted before my next trip.  Any suggestions for a lower compaction tire for a D17 that will support a front end loader.

My 170d had 7.50 x 16 on it when I got it 25 years ago and I assumed those came on it. When I replaced them that is what I put back on and they look correct.

My series 4 had 650x16"s on it when I got it. I put 750X16's on it. They look good on it.

6.50-16 or 750-16 will be fine on your rims. Pending funds I would go with the 7.50s.

Both of my Series IVs have 7.5 x 16 on them.  I would not go any smaller.
