Mine is missing it, would someone take a picture and provide some measurements of the cover that goes over the generator on series 1 diesel.
Thanks in advance

BTT, instead of me guessing a few measurements is all I’m asking for. Or a NOS would be even better. I’m trying to put this 3 bar back as original as possible. Just trying to fill in the blanks. Or a good used part will be fine.
Thanks in advance

Are you talking about the brush cover or is there another cover?

What is the purpose of the Genny cover? I ran my series 4 diesel for 25 years without 1. I never knew they existed until I read this post.

It's for the earlier models with the oil bath air cleaner directly above the generator.  Presumably it's to keep any spilled oil off of the genny.  Not for late models with the dry air cleaner.

They were on the series 1, when changing the oil bath filter it prevents oil from running down on the generator, belts if someone didn’t take their time and slop oil out of the pan.

I made a card board version and dropped it off to the machine shop. Just going by the partial picture from my manual. It won’t be original but it will be close enough.

Did anyone find an original one of these, or be willing to take pics and measurements of one?  I could use one too, mine's gone.

Apparently most were tossed aside but it’s actually a functional part that protects the generator. I didn’t get any response, I hope you do. If not, I will post what I am having made when it’s completed.

Sounds good, Robbie, thanks!  Maybe one will turn up on a tractor at a show, and perhaps the owner would be kind enough to let one of us get some measurements.  I believe mine is a '60 model, if I remember correctly.  Would you know if the wide fronts are different across the series of D17's, and between gas and diesel?  My wide front has been a little modified.

He had already parted out the rest of the tractor and the shroud and grill was all he had left. I’m not sure about the WF, but as far as the power steering ,changes occurred several times over the series.

It will have to be a diesel to have one. Gas versions had the air filter at the left rear of the engine.
