My D-17 the clutch pedal is worn. It is worn so bad it hits the foot rest and makes noise every time you use it. I am looking for a repair to make it tight again. Any hints or suggestions of what to do or not to do. Thanks

Randy, You can still purchase the shaft for the clutch pedal and also get bushings for the pedal. I am doing one now and the shaft was fairly easy to remove with the tractor split.

Randy, did mine last year when I had it split to put the low side back in the power director. Just cut it off short and drove it into the torque tube. I put the new one in the freezer for a day before I put it in and tapping it in with a wood block to the correct depth. You have to watch the depth since it holds the detent ball for the pto shifter. Got my parts from Albert at Dean Ag in Maryville. I have a Series 1 so the biggest problem  that I had was finding someone to bore the pedal for the bushings.

I take mine to a machine shop.  They machine it and put a bushing in that is the same size as the shaft (I measure it with a set of calipers).  I also get the clutch rod done at the same time since the hole gets ovalled out too.
 
I've done it on several of my tractors and work great now!

 I bought new bushings from Sandy Lake Imp. then fixed the shaft with JB weld where it had wore out has been good for over 2 years.
