Well i ordered some parts last night from agco to reseal the rear axles and final drives of the D17. Just one problem. I forgot to order the pan gasket that goes right below the bull gear!! So the question is. Do i change my order or should i just use some good sealant and call it good?? Also, the tapered roller bearings on the pinion shaft dont really roll smooth(dry, no oil) after cleaning. Should i go ahead and replace them also. they dont look bad, they just dont roll real smoothly after cleaning them. If i replace them should i replace the race also?? Thanks

In general if you have to ask...it stands to reason you think it should be done so do them.
what is the cost vs pulling it apart again. If your in a hurry to get it running and changing the order will cost you time you don't have It probably will work if they are clean and smooth.

If you replace a bearing, you should always replace the race too. Once you get it running you need to take it to the power from the past show in winamac next July so I can see it. Or better yet, take it to their plow days next fall and we'll let our Allis's show everyone how to really plow!
