Was thinking about adding a keystone turbo kit to my D-17 226 GAS . There website stated that I would need a bigger carb . Could someone enlighten me on what size carb I would need to go to and info on where to get it . Engine is stock and with changed govenor spring turns around 2100 -2200 rpms , have turned up to 2800-3000 with a pull on the extra throttle I installed. Tractor used for pulling comp . only .

at least double the size of what you have now. rule of thumb 15 psi of boost double the horsepower. turbo needs to move at least 300 cfms of air or its a waste of time. Edited by mlpankey - 17 Jan 2012 at 12:13pm |

I have a Zenith 12957 off a 262 Gleaner that should feed that. Your stock cast iron fly wheel could grenade at hi rpm, and the power director clutch may not be safe at 3000 rpm, either.

Is is possible to put injectors in and eliminate the carb? I'm sure it's been done.

I had a bendix(if I remember right) off a G gleaner on my WC witht he hot cam in it. I never had a fuel problem with it. Sold the manifold to someone on here that I had made where there was no overhang on it.

GREAT POINT, MACK !!.......and if a tractor like that showed up at any Pull around here, I doubt it would be allowed to even hook to the sled.......Why, you ask?? well first, what class are you going to put it in ?? and with zero safety equipment, no insurance company would want anything to do with it.

Mack are you saying the rods will not hold up at 2100-2200 rpm with a turbo charger, just asking before I put one on it . Also Dr. Allis there are under 3000 rpm farm classses without a blanket and you can run a turbo . Didnt know that since I had an antique tractor I was limited to antique pulling classes. Just enjoy pulling .

The D17 rods will fold up with turbo boost and when they do it will try to push the crank out the bottom if it don't burn a hole through your cast aluminum pistons first. MACK |
