My clutch went out all of a sudden on my 1965 D-15 Series II gas. One day I had plenty clutch and next day it bottomed out. When you press the clutch is whines like a throw out bearing on a car. Now it will grind going into all gears.
My question, where is the best place to get a replacement clutch as far as price and quality? Also, any suggestiions what may have caused it to go out so fast? I live in Georgia.

When I did the clutch in my D19D, I got the parts from Sandy Lake....but I am sure Jimd or Tony from TonysTractors should be able to help you

You will want Rick Corder to rebuild it. He is in the memberlist. If you buy an A&I or one from aftermarket it won't be right. I am not sure on the ones from AGCO, I bet they could be wrong too. HTH Tracy Martin

The one for my D19D from Sandy Lake fit like a glove, but I know what Tracy is talking about, had one from A&I in a D14 and one from auto parts in a D17, both failed and slipped within a year........springs in pressure plate not right. When we put it in, it wouldnt release.....adjusted figers on pressure plate and you shouldnt have to do that on a new clutch, they should be adjusted from factory

I talked with a local diesel (tractor) mechanic today, and he strongly recommends having the old clutch rebuild instead of buying one from the local AGCO dealer. He strongly recommends Savannah Clutch & Industrial Brake out of Savannah, Georgia.
I really believe my release bearing froze up instead of my clutch going out. But when I get into it next week, I will replace both the clutch and release bearing.

I know this is a different tractor, so different clutch, but I got one for my D17 from Jim at OK Tractor, it was an A&I disc on the box, but opened it up to find the manufacture was rockford.  He was able to get it to me in two days ground delivery.

i have done a couple clutch jobs on my d-15 diesel and what happens is the center of the clutch plate breaks out. check the bottom of the bell housing for the inspection plate which is around 2.5 inches across. the bits of springs will be lying inside on the bottom. this means splitting the two halves and walking them apart which is not that hard if you are on concrete and use some 12 inch ready rod or bolts with the ends cut off to guide the halves back together.

buttoman could be right, I have don two D14's and thats what I found, the centers were loose from plate. Let us know what you find!

That is what I did on my 15 II.  There is a place in town called clutch and brake.  I guess I got the same one back it sure looked spiffy.  The tke care of new clutch disks also.  Works like a champ and was less than ordering a kit on line.

I would split the tractor and send the worn parts to Rick Corder. He will do a fine job restoring your parts and you know what you have will work properly.

I have a D/14  my dad bought new . He had to replace clutch dise twice. The centers broke out. He thought it was caused  from quick shifting of the power director back and forth espesily pulling combine with pto. Weigh off machine could put more pressure on clutch than HP of engine would be.

Foiund out today that my release bearing exploded. destroyed the Release bearing carrier. Will a AGCO dealer carry this?

The technical name for the release bearing carrier is "Clutch shifter". AGCO part number 70245259.
 
The problem is that AGCO does not have it!

I hope the rain stopped long enough for you to pull the part and send it on its way. If your State is like Georgia, we are in dire need of some rain. Our local rivers are at a 100 year lows. I feel for Texas!
