All the parts places have radiators for the D15 but they all say they're for Serial numbers AFTER 9001....which are series 2.

I have a series 1 (sn 5227) and I'm thinking of buying a new radiator.

Anyone know if these radiators are interchangeable?

I think they are the same EXCEPT, there is no provision for the front mounted headlites to screw into. I say I THINK that is the only serious difference.

I bought an after market. I had to shim up the radiator so the neck would come through the hole to get the cap on and drill four holes to get the sheet metal bolted on.

Just to clarify....are you addressing my original question about compatibility between D15 (GAS) series 1 and series 2 radiators?

It sounds like you're saying you bought an aftermarket for Series 2 and you were able to modify it to work on a series 1....is this correct?

Like Dr. Allis, I also would like to know the supplier and the manufacturer. I'm finding that some of these radiators are made in Turkey????

There's no difference in sheet metal height, width or size between S1 and S2.

Yes, series 1 and 2 rads fit the same - no problems there. However, as stated above, new aftermarket radiators do tend to have fitment issues and tend to be made overseas.
That is why I recommend getting yours recored. Guaranteed to go back on with no issues, they are done locally and are about the same price. You would never have to touch it again either.
