D15 gas tank help!

I have a D15 series 2 that is getting a lot of surface rust inside the tank (which then causes issues from there!). I know someone who can powder coat the inside, but didn't know if that is a good option. He says it's very chemical resistant, but I don't want to trade 1 problem for another. Thoughts and suggestions?

Where I work we have a problem with powdercoating adhering to non sandblasted surfaces.  I don't think even epoxy powdercoating would stand up to gasoline submersion

If there were no other options I would electrolysis the tank and then coat it with some form of phosphoric acid solution.  Zinc plating would be the best option but it might be hard to find a place to do one tank

I took the tank from my d17 to a radiator repair shop and they cleaned it out and lined it. Don't know what the stuff is but it is the standard gas tank liner. That was about 6 years ago now and it has worked out perfectly for me. My tank was a total mess on the inside they told me it took several passes to clean it with their standard cleaning. If the tank on my d15 gets bad I will be taking it to them to have it lined as well.

Get the tank thoroughly cleaned and then keep it full of gas, with stablizer. Stay away from any pour in liners. I had a few different ones and they have all eventually melted, which is a bigger mess than occasionally cleaning the sediment bowl.
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.

Remove gas tank from tractor after draining. Power wash out the inside with hot soapy water. Remove sediment bowl assembly from the bottom. Power wash again thru sediment bowl hole. Let dry for a couple of days. With a small hand held sand blaster, blast the inside of the tank from the fill neck and the sediment bowl hole, aiming at all possible angles. Use a shop vac to suck out all you can. Power wash again a time or two and let dry. Never seen one yet I couldn't make work.

I have used tank liner/sealer on several of my tank without any problems.
I remove the tank, drop a heavy chain inside and shake it for a while. I then remove the chain, blow out the inside, and dump in the sealer. I found that it is good to install a short nipple and a cap in the threaded hole where the fuel bowl mounts. This allows you to remove the cap and drain the sealer from the tank and the threads stay clean. LOL Bob

I wondered about using the spray bombs of epoxy that the RC airplane guys use on their 'toys'. I recall the fuel them engines burn is mighty potent !!
The real 'fun' would be getting ANY 'paint' to evenly coat the inside,maybe do it 1/2 upside down, then 1/2 right side up ??

Also VHT have some epoxy paints and a 'rust convertor'.....

Sent one of my own into Radi. shop over 10 years ago .Had it coated inside .Left it dry for over a month .Still to this day no problems .For what I even pay now to have it done it still cheaper then my shop time that I can keep working on other things for my Customers .
