My neighbor wants to add an optimal hydraulic pump for the belt pulley to his D-15 diesel. Are they available if so where at? And what needs to be done to do so?

Pretty sure belt pulley will stop when clutch is pushed in.... If so,depending on application, this could be a bad thing ?? Only way I know to get a true 'live' hydraulic pump, would be off the front of the the crankshaft.

"Optimal" hydraulic pump?? how about "auxiliary" hydraulic pump ?? I know they made one for the D-17 and could have for the D-15 as well. A poor set-up at best. Only worked when your foot was off the clutch pedal. No parts available any more unless by chance you found a salvaged tractor with the optional hydraulic system. The home-made "live" system is by far superior or a front pump from an all-hydraulic loader is too.

So, it's more than just the pump, right ?? It has an oil tank on the right platform and some sort of a hydraulic valve stack ?? maybe on the left side beside the seat??

This hydraulic system is a "one-of", utilizing a hydraulic pump from a Northern Hydraulics Catalog, making a pump mounting bracket that attaches to the thermostat housing, adding a second pulley to the crankshaft pulley and finally using a hydraulic console/valve stack from a D-17 IV or 170-175-180-185 tractor. All the hoses and connections were selected to get the installation completed on the D-15 II chassis in March of 2017. The original hydraulic sump is tapped into on the front left side corner for hydraulic oil supply and there is a return filter from a 180-190-200 under the left rear axle area to filter all return oil. The only time any hydraulic oil ever leaves the sump is when a one-way cylinder is extended, so a couple of quarts at the most. When using a 2-way cylinder extending, even less oil leaves the sump. It has performed flawlessly for 6+ years and is pretty neatly installed.

We have a D14 industrial with a pippin loader on it. It had a side pump. I don’t remember being bothered by having to make sure foot clutch was out. The center plate cracked and couldn’t find replacement so we put front pump on it

As far as I know, any D-14/D-15 side pump was dead when the foot clutch pedal was depressed. Only the D-17 IV and One-Seventy's were "live" at that drive location.

Here is the build thread for the d15 live hydraulic conversion. I did all the fab work, Dr did the engineering. Still works beautifully
