We brought a D14 home over the weekend, it looks pretty fair, but the engine is stuck. It will most likely take a while to get it running again. It is serial number 16782. It appears there were different paint schemes throughout production, so I am curious which scheme I should pursue when I get to that stage. Creme wheels? Orange wheels? Creme grill? Black grill? I have seen a lot of variations, so not sure what the "correct police" would recommend. Thank you!

Only variation I know of is the black bar brill. The entire tractor was PO1. 1960 the D15 started the new PO2 paint scheme with creme wheels and such.
but I could be wrong.

Well.. it could use a wee bit of air in the right front tire......hehehe
My first( the '57) D-14 was stuck too. Every day I did the following faithfully..
1) try to rotate the crankshaft pulley with 1/2" drive long bar.
2) if it didn't move, add ATF/diesel oil to every cyclinder through the plug holes
3) walk away until tomorrow...
repeated 1.2.3 until it moved just a bit...
then added more oil...walked away...
checked next day, moved it the opposite way...then more oil...walk away...
after 10 days I could slowly and carefully turn over the engine with what I thought was enough force..
added gas, battery... choke and away she went..been fine ever since.
be sure to pull the round hole on the bottom of the clutch housing and check for mouse house !! Mine was FULL ! Took 1/2 day to clean out !

The D14 never had cream grill or wheels (although I think they look better that way...I'm a big fan of the D15). The '59 and '60 model years had the white and black block Allis-Chalmers sticker and silver and black grill. The '57 and '58 years had grey Allis-Chalmers block letters, PO1 grill, and silver and PO1 wheels.

Thanks for the information. I also brought this Oliver 70 home. It is in pretty rough condition, I think I am going to have my hands full for a while!

The 57 had silver letters, also 6 volt. The latter ones (59 & 60) were 12 volt and had the silver grille with black bars. decals on the hood were white with a black border.Wheels were always ogange PO1. Bob |

I am a little unsure of the front wheel paint design. I get the impression that the center of rim should be PO#1 and the rim silver, is this correct? Should the silver be the aluminum silver that is generally accepted as correct for the rear rims? Thank you again!

I have never seen a D14 with a creme grill, but I wonder if it didn't come that way though. The tractor doesn't appear to have been repainted from the picture.

You have a 59 model year. Swinford's book shows the D14 thru sn 18230 was all P.O. #1. The only silver ever used was on the rims and muffler. The wheel centers were originally orange. The black bar grilles started at sn 19001.

Thank you. Now it is starting to make sense to me. I just couldn't see how the grille on mine could have black bars on silver mesh, when there weren't any bars. The serial number break makes it logical. Do I still need the black/white decals? I prefer the looks of the silver letters and the D14 in the circle on side panel. As you can see, I have plenty of time to figure this stuff out, but it is on my mind now. Thanks!
