D14 governor

   A co worker asked me about fixing on a D14. The owner of the tractor took it to someone who "bent the linkage". I'm assuming that means bending the arm on the carb side. Now when you step on the clutch the engine revs wide open so they brought it to my coworker. What's the way to set up the throttle linkage again?

	It really sounds like the governor is bad and not just linkage. It is easy to check by removing the governor cover and checking the weights to make sure nothing is broken or loose inside. If it revs too many times the engine may come apart. I just had to fix the governor on my CA.

	The cross over arm was probly bent to much or the wrong way. To check the governor just take hold of the linkage and reeve the engine. If you have a lot of resistance the governor is more than likely not the problem. To re adjust the linkage set the no running engine throttle to wide open with the cross over arm unhooked. Pull the linkage from the carburetor to all the way toward the radiator. When in proper adjustment the linkage would hook back up and the most it should be off would be about 1/16" . If this is your problem you will need to bend the cross over arm until the hole does line up.
