Hey Guys, I'm restoring a D14 at the moment and I noticed the final drive had chewed up the inside of the final drive cover on one side. After further investigation, I see there are a few teeth on the final drive gear that have edges that have broken off. What's the major cause of the final drive shifting? Bad bearings? Worn shims? Also, what's the best way to remove the bearings for replacement? Thanks again.

Maybe a missing snap ring.

I would definitely drop the pan and have a look. May be bearings gone bad or could possibly be a broken snap ring ??
If you don't have a manual, find one. You can look at the parts drawing on AGCOpartsbook.com http://agcopartsbooks.com/PartsBooksN/Viewer/book.aspx?book=agco/79001548 Scroll down to Drive Train and click on final drive and axle Edited by CTuckerNWIL - 19 Jan 2016 at 11:22am |

I've got the pan off. Bull ring was rubbing on the pan on the wheel side. The gear has several chipped teeth. I've got the snap ring off that holds the bull ring on the shaft. I'm working on getting the shaft out of the housing. Just wondering if there's a common cause for this kind of issue.

That spacer may be washed out on the ends if the gear has been slopping around in there. You will have to check out end play once you get it ready to go back together.

Got the shaft out of the housing. There is some wear on the spacer. Also, the inner and outer bearings could use replacing.
In case anyone ever has trouble getting their shaft out of the housing: I ended up using a porta-power on the inner bearing to put pressure on the shaft. Then I heated the bearing up good and wailed the hub with a sledge and it popped right out. (After everything else failed lol) Thanks for the replies.

Did you confirm that the bull gear was in the correct way? If its like a WD series than it could be put in backwards? Maybe? Seems like worn bearings would not allow that much movement? Any pictures?
