Trying to find some one that can explane how the carborater govoner all hook up and what way the govener move to give more throttle and what way the carborater butterfly opens I ask as I just purchased a d14 that has a different carb on it then came from factory and I think the govener is working against the carb

The cross arm on the governor moves forward to open up the throttle plate. The throttle shaft arm on the carb need to be pointing UP, which is kind of bass-ackwards to many other carbs.

The arm must be up but at a certain timing position, not just up. The arm also is longer than any short arm, like double the length.

You 'may' be able to remove butterfly from carb, rotate 180* then reinstall. Might have to 'flip' the butterfly as well.... I'm pretty sure I've done that on one of my D-14s, well ,kinda sure, um, ahh.. well it sounds like I did...

If your 14 is still in it's work clothes like mine, there is a governor cross over rod that runs across in front of the block thru some carriers that can get clogged with old oil and or grease. If your governor is sluggish you need to clean these areas or spray some type of fluid in them. I used PB Blaster. Mine is very peppy now! On your issue, you need to take the carb off and turn the lever so it points upward. At least that is how it works on mine. But, thinking about it, if it works on yours like it is, then maybe it is okay. I can't wrap my brain around it but it may work correctly whether it's pointing up or pointing down because it would be starting out closed in whichever position it is in. Whichever direction it is in the butterfly needs to be attached to the flat side of the rod. You could also take the carb off and see if it opens and closes when going back and forth.

Ya iv cleaned all the areas I could see and nothing the problem is you let off the clutch and it dies you give it throttle to run with your foot off the clutch and when you put your foot back on it rpm climbs tryed all the stuff I could think of on adjusting the load screw and the problem is the link that connects the govener side to the carb side moves back towards the seat in order to give more throttle and from the sounds of it should be moving towards the radiator for more gas the carb looks very similar to what should be on the I ordered a rebuild kit that has the longer arm I'm going to see if I can make it fit (fyi I'm a machinist and machinist in the way that allmost every thing I run was built in 1972 or older) and see if that solves my issue if not I guess I'll be looking for one to buy
