OK, so the front axle is a tad 'sloppy'....maybe the OVAL hole in the casting where the pin on teh front of the axle pivots just might be why ?.....
Any know the dimensions of the nonexistant bushing #233368 ? Also... How would you turn the oval back into a round hole? Keep in mind this tractor doesn't see 'real farm' use, only a few hours a year, short hauls, light duty in the 1/4ac veggie garden? All replies appreciated... this'll be Summer job 37 or 38.....sigh... Jay |

The real way ,Drop off front axle support ,Get hole reamed out ,make over sized O.D. bushing , make new pin and weld it on axle. My opinion , when doing work like this for a customer ,it saves wasted time trying to patch something that still is not going to be a FIX.

Fred is right, fix it right and you will save time in the long run. I drill a hole in the axle support to install a grease fitting too.

If I were in your shoes and was not totally intent on doing it "right"' I would just install or have installed a new/longer pin in the hole and let her rip tader chip.
if you are not going to need it fixed right, why do it and have it like new when it finally takes a trip across the pond. It won't make any difference to the furnace. ![]() Had another thought (farmer fix))Take the rear bolts out of the brace that holds the axle assy forward and make shims out of say 1/2 inch iron pipe and move that brace forward so what is left of the pivot pin fits farther in the oblong hole. I have home made shims on my D 15 there but it was cus i wanted the pin to fit farther into the front support. ![]() Give it some thought. Edited by Dave H - 07 Mar 2018 at 3:50pm |
