 Topic: D12 Traction Booster Gauge

I purchased a new traction booster gauge for my series I D12. I do not plan to plow with this tractor, but I am trying to finish the restoration. In keeping with a complete restoration, I am trying to determine where the hydraulic tubing connects on the power take-off hydraulic pump. Does it just hook into the hydraulic lines to the lift cylinders, or somewhere else? I have looked through the manual, the parts catalog and several other places and do not see exactly where the line hooks up to the pump. Any help will be appreciated.

From what I've heard, most of the new repro TB gauges are junk. It will stay looking nice if you don't hook it up  Most complaints are the needle falling off or the gauge filling up with oil.

If the tractor has a live lift, the tractor booster gauge line hooks on the bottom side of the hydraulic control valve. It connects to the block that the right hydraulic ram line connects to. If the tractor does not have a live lift and has the CA type hydraulic pump, the line hooks to a line connector block that mounts beneath the deck plate. The left side ram line also connects to this block as does a line coming from the pump. This is from memory, but should be correct.

If I read you correctly, the traction booster gauge reads the pressure on the lift cylinders?

I recently purchased my 3rd gage fro DJS Supply. Altho not as good as OE, the 1st 2 are working just fine. Only "knock" thus far is the Chinese do not know the OD size of the line to the gage and the bore in the gage is too small; have had to rebore all 3 so that the line would go into the gage.

Bob, This is the set up you should have. Hydraulic line from pump to connector. Line from connector to ram. Line from connector to traction booster gauge.
